Campaign Produces 60% Increase in Registration |
AbilityOne/NISH partnered with Alliant this year to develop and assist them in rolling out the 2009 – 2010 AbilityOne Network Design Challenge Campaign. The Design Challenge was established to encourage college students to develop assistive technologies that can empower people with disabilities to overcome barriers to employment.
This year's pre-registration is up 60% from 5 teams/individuals last year to over 30 this year. Both Alliant and AbilityOne/NISH were excited about the news and are anxiously awaiting the outcome after the entire campaign is rolled out.
Alliant branded this year's challenge "What's Next?" The campaign-theme focuses on the dates of key inventions such as the first modern spectacles (1280s), wheelchair (1890s) prosthetic arm (1940s) and ends on the question "What's Next?". The intent is to inspire students with a sense that their contribution could be a breakthrough for people with disabilities. Select pieces can be seen on our work page in the AbilityOne section.
